About

Historically, jazz is an artform which was created in jam sessions.
The common repertoire for these sessions has not evolved since the creation and clandestine publishing of 'The Real Book', a collection of simplified sheet music intended, (like all fake books), to be easily sight-read.

This book has been so popular that any attempts to contemporize the common repertoire by publishing newer books have failed
This blog contains lead sheets transcribed by me in the style of the Real Book, for some newer songs in an attempt to expand upon, rather than replace, the ridiculouly stale canon of songs offered by the original Real Book and its far-less popular sequels.

I will also put up some of my vinyl for download and offer up some personal opinion on jazz history, musicians, copyright issues and anything else music related that is bugging me that day.

All charts are scanned as jpg's so you can just click on them and print them, or read them off of your computer screen.
They charts are written using Finale PrintMusic, a cheap, widely available music notation program, if you want the original files in order to transpose or alter these charts in any way, let me know and I will put a link up for them.
Please tell any musician friends about this blog and leave a comment
